Nica Nativa Corporativa Officially Open

It gives me great pleasure to report that Nica Nativa Corporativa, a project of World Kids Foundation in collaboration with Dawson Creek Sunrise Rotary club, is now officially open.  February 2nd 2010 was a special day for the community of Cangrejo and the women in the village that now have their own little sewing center. Built with heart for the love of life and reaching out.

 Many here to participate in this special event.

Friends Lisa, George, Dennis and Kris, representing  Dawson Creek Sunrise Rotary travelled a great distance from Northern Canada for this special event. The first product to roll off the line are beach hand bags.

Also in attendance of opening day were friends Darek, Magna and young son, Olgiert along with photographer Kelly from El Gato Negro and Lee Greenburg of Tech-Nica. And of course we can’t forget about Cart wheel Steve who rode in the ox cart and kept it from tipping over.

 Gifts for Cangrejo...

In addition to opening day, the team brought great kindness of school supplies, toys, clothes and gifts for the remote community of Cangrejo.

 Now that phase 1 is complete, the next task at hand is phase 2

Phase 2 will  incorporate solar and wind energy to power to bring electricity to the school and the sewing center.

Escuela Mundo De Los Ninos is in much need of a rebuild, and so this will be part of phase 2 as well.

February 2nd  also marked the first day back to school and its 10th year anniversary of class.  A lot of hearts to numerous to name have put Cangrejo on the map. Literacy has come to the village along with the women’s ownership of their new Nica Nativa Corpororativa.
